“93 lbs lost since last Thanksgiving. Last November, I finally got sick of being overweight and I got busy. A member of the Y, I started by stepping up my cardio with their elliptical struggling to get in 30 minutes most days... I knew, though, that I was losing muscle mass as well as fat. A hydrostatic body composition test (considered by most fitness experts and my Dr) as the most accurate test that is readily available. The test confirmed that I had indeed lost 42 pounds but that almost 40 % of that was lean body mass (muscle). That also explained why, even though I was only eating about 1200 calories per day, my weight loss had stopped. With less muscle My metabolism had plummeted. Then in February, I joined Koko FitClub. I revised my goals away from just my weight and focused on percentage of body fat. Since Feb 19, 2010 with my regular and focused Koko workouts, I have lost another 51 pounds. More importantly to me, with the resistance training and less cardio, I have now reached 13% body fat. That is rated "excellent" for a 58 year old male. While I have long since gotten below my original goal of 211 pounds, I love wearing 33 " slacks (rather than 50"). My 3X shirts have long since gone to Goodwill and I enjoy wearing Large shirts instead. My Dr is also amazed. My resting heart rate averages about 53, my blood pressure averages 88/60 without medication. No more lipitor for my cholesterol. which is now under 120 total. My triglycerides have dropped from over 300 to 58. I was working hard at the Y. At KOKO, I am still working hard but much much more effectively. I am a fan for life. By the way, I was paying more for the YMCA plus $70 per hour for a personal trainer. Please feel free to let anyone contact me if they want more information from a satisfied customer. “I have seen the future of fitness and its name is Koko FitClub of Acton. Here is an overview: Smartrainer is a universal-type machine that paces your through a set of exercises designed to achieve specific goals (weight loss, sports conditioning, etc) and customized to your individual range of motion and strength . I look forward to the workouts which vary so you are working the same muscles using different exercises. Also, since you don't have to "rest" in between sets you can do the whole workout in 30 minutes! The program displays on the screen so you don't have to remember or write anything down. You can log into your results from home to see how many calories you burned or what your next workout will be. Cardio is the other component of Koko. I like to use the elliptical, there also treadmills. Koko provides MP3 players with different programs like "stadium stairs" and "calorie blaster" (great around the holidays). In 15 minutes you can burn calories and evaluate your heart rate. In six weeks I have seen a 25% strength gain and my clothes are fitting better too. “I joined the club 5 weeks ago. When I first visited, the owners were very friendly and welcoming and didn't make me feel self-conscious for being a total couch potato. The facility hasn't been open too long so everything is still brand new. One thing I've pleasantly noticed since I've been a member is the place never smells like a gym. I'm not really sure how they pull that off since I'm not the only one sweating in there. Over the past 10 years, I've had limited success trying to workout at other gyms and fitness clubs; they were definitely on-and-off affairs. My problem with exercising without a trainer was that I was never sure how much weight to lift or how many reps to do. My experiences working out with a trainer have been mixed: sometimes I had a trainer who wasn't serious about what they were doing and other times I've experienced trainers who worked me out extra hard seemingly to prove how much worse shape I was in than them. The best thing about Koko is that the machines are computerized in a way like no place else (they're not just electronic, they're computerized). They have sensors which take note of how much weight you're lifting, how many reps you're doing, and they sense your pace to ensure that you're lifting at the right pace. There are quite a few programs to choose from depending on your fitness goals. The program you choose is loaded onto a USB key that you insert into the machine when you start your workout. Your workout regimen is based on your chosen program (Weight Loss 1 for me), your age, weight, and strength (tested when you join). I honestly feel this is much better than a personal trainer. I don't have to schedule my time at the gym with a trainer, the programs have been well thought out and designed by well-known and qualified trainers and I'm not chit-chatting with a trainer during my workout. I've changed my diet (I'm eating a reasonable amount of sensible things; not an official diet) and have been very committed to visiting Koko regularly. To date my waistline is 2 inches smaller and I've lost 14 pounds of body weight. Best of all is that I feel great and have more energy than when my activity level was almost nil.”

“So here's the deal: -Male -Early 40's -Hates working out -I mean HATE! There are very few things in life that I dislike more than spending time exercising in a gym. My first impressions was Koko is such a bad name it must be good. To my surprise I have found that the data is helpful and has totally allowed me to quantify my time expended and results. My favorite part is the fact that I have lifted 224,769 lbs. I am not really sure what that means or if it is impressive but I keep bragging about it to anyone who will listen. My son thinks it's cool.”

“Thought I would share my story with you. Thanks for all your support! I have had a tremendously successful experience since joining Koko FitClub. In August 2010, I decided to start doing something for myself as I recognized my "work to life" balance was so lopsided that I was literally working myself to death! I had gained about 15 pounds on to my already obese frame and the most activity I had daily was walking up and down the stairs to my home office. Then I happened across the Nashua Koko FitClub that was about to open. I stopped in and although they were not officially open, the Murphys gave my husband and I a tour. Within a week, I made the best decision in a long time and joined Koko FitClub! I love the weight training and for the first time in my life I actually have some upper body strength! I have never been a person who sweats but I guess Michael Wood is right "if you're not sweating then you aren't working"... I am working now! “Fitness has always played a roll in my life. I joined my first gym at 17 and have never looked back - until I had kids. I had my first at 28 and then my son at 30. Between pregnancies I would try to lose the baby weight. We had a full gym in the basement, I tried shredding and pilates. I stayed active during my pregnancies, but still was frustrated at how my body looked a year after each child was born. I picked up running and would run 5-10 kilometers 4 or 5 times a week. But no matter how often or how far I ran, it never did the trick. Then I joined Koko Fit Club in July 2010. At first I was just in love with the schedule. Forty-five minutes 3 times a week? No problem! I could easy fit that into my busy schedule as a working mom of 2. I could squeeze workouts in before the kids got up in the morning, or between soccer games on the weekend. It was easy. Within 2 months I started to see a real change in my body. Old muscles were returning, and there were some that I had never seen in 15 years of working out on my own!! Triceps for crying out loud! I realized that it was the comprehensiveness of the program that was having the biggest impact. I wasn't just working on my "favorite" muscles (we all tend to focus on a few - for me it was bicep, calves, abs) - I was forced to work on ALL of them. What a concept! I've now been a member for a year and have been pretty consistent in my commitment (save the odd cold or trip that kept me away for a week or two). I still love going. I love the challenge and I look forward to my next strength test. Right now my score is 93 and that is the second highest female in the club. I'm proud of that. Last weekend I participated in a mini-triathlon with my daughter and the photographer took the included photo of us running to the bikes. While they have been neck and neck of late, Matt has recently taken a 20-18 lead in total perfect sessions. When recently asked about his current lead, Matt responded, "I don't take it for granted at all. Al always has an eye on the Leaderboard and has been a member eight months longer than myself. I'm happy to have taken the lead, but he still has me in total Koko points, and he's not going anywhere." When it comes to total Koko points Allen does have a convincing lead, more than doubling Matt's total. Even if Matt continues his perfect lead, it would take a herculean effort and a considerable amount of time to capture the lead in points. When asked about falling behind Matt in the perfect session race, Allen explained: "I found myself under the weather for a little while, and I have to give Matt credit, he seized the opportunity." In terms of how Allen plans to regain the lead, he joked: "Avoiding Smartrainer No. 3 is the first step. It's always something with that machine. We don't get along." Allen then took a more serious tone. "It all comes down to consistency. I'll keep putting in my time and as long as we're both working out here, it's going to be a close battle." While Matt and Allen continue their battle, they still have a long way to go before they are even in the discussion with some of Koko's other long-time members. Matt touched upon those members briefly by stating: "It really is amazing what they have been able to do, the amount of focus, time, consistency. They're the ones who should be getting the attention. “OK, so I researched koko over and over on the internet for about 4 months. I email the owner, Chris Lucas, who promptly answers my questions. I want to join, but will I stay motivated? So I join on Tuesday the 23rd. Chris does a strength test on me which is the first step toward the personalized program. Wednesday the 24th I come back. Chris supports me while I complete my 30 min. personalized workout in 36 min. He is totally there for me yet lets me do the steps myself to learn. I am impressed with the smart trainer. It shows me exactly what to do, then tells me how well I did! And it is so easy to learn. Ok, Thursday the 25th, day 3. Can't wait to get there and score higher on that trainer! Chris and I are the only ones there at that time. He allows me to go through the exercises myself, I only have to ask for help with one I'm not familiar with. He is there for me but he does not hover. I complete my workout in 31 min. Each exercise gives you a % of how well you performed. I can't wait to come back tomorrow to beat the last percentage and get down to 30 min even. Motivation!!! Stay tuned!”

I was loosing motivation and I quit seeing results with my workouts. I was confused as to what exercises I should be performing and how to pace my workouts. I have TOTALLY changed my mind and attitude. I'm now happy to say joining Koko has been one of the best choices I have ever made. I've seen more results in just my first 9 sessions than I had been seeing in a week or two with my old workouts. It's an exciting new challenge. The timed workouts are perfect for me and the hours of operation are perfect for my work schedule. I have to confess the cardio aspect is kicking my butt, but in a good way. I love the ability to track my progress and to be able to see my upcoming workouts. Like I said before,joing Koko has been a awesome choice.”
